- Designed for growth and a full range of services
- Omniplus: the densest service network for buses in Europe
Stuttgart / Berlin – Groundbreaking ceremony for the new BusWorld Home (BWH) in Berlin: OMNIplus is building a new top-notch service center for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses that will provide a comprehensive range of services and greater capacity. It is expected to open in June of next year.
BWH: Premium service for Mercedes-Benz and Setra
"Premium service goes along with premium buses,” Mirko Sgodda, Head of Sales, Marketing and Customer Services, pointed out today at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new BWH in Berlin. "Our operation on Neudecker Weg will set a new standard in Berlin. Both in terms of technological expertise as well as experienced customer orientation.” In addition to the employees of the existing BWH in Berlin-Marienfelde, the groundbreaking ceremony also included Martin Hikel, the district mayor of Neukölln, numerous customers and the management of the German sales organization.
BWH Berlin will take care of scheduled-service buses, intercity buses and touring coaches, from minibuses to double-decker buses, whether they are based in Berlin or passing through. Its advantage will be the strategically favorable position in the German capital, which is an important transportation hub. The new BWH in Neudecker Weg is located at the intersection of the Berlin districts of Neukölln and Adlershof, directly adjacent to the A113 expressway and only about ten kilometers from the Autobahnring A10 and the Central Bus Station. Daimler Buses is investing more than 20 million euros in the new BWH Berlin.
Designed for growth and a full range of services
The new, state-of-the-art BWH Berlin will employ around 50 people, and its capacity is designed for growth. Its range of services will include all types of work from servicing to accident repair, including painting.
The equipment of the new BWH Berlin will be correspondingly impressive: The workshop will measure 150 meters by 35 meters and will include twelve workstations for mechanical /electrical work and four workstations for electrically powered buses. Each workstation will have pits and wheel grippers. In addition, there will be two vehicle lifts for minibuses as well as a total of nine spaces for repairing high-voltage batteries and major assemblies, technical and statutory inspections, bodywork and accident repairs and paint preparations. Depending on requirements, one articulated bus or two smaller vehicles will be able to be painted at the same time in the divisible paint booth. There will also be a 34-meter-long washing and processing hall with a vehicle washing system. Three charging stations will be available for the electrically powered eCitaro, with other charging stations for the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter and for passenger cars of customers and employees.
The plot of the new BWH borders directly on the Commercial Vehicle Center Berlin of Daimler Truck AG. This will create synergies between the two companies and thus even better service for accident repair, painting of vehicles and spare parts, repair of major assemblies as well as the extensive spare parts warehouse of the new BWH. Thanks to its comprehensive and state-of-the-art equipment, the BWH will also be able to take on work that previously had to be outsourced.
